Iran, IAEA teams meet in Vienna

» سرویس: Politics - Nuclear and Energy

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian and the IAEA technical delegations held talks in Vienna in a bid to examine the remaining issues and reach a specified framework for further cooperation.

Iranian ambassador to the IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh chaired the Iranian side and the IAEA Deputy Director General for Safeguards Herman Nackaerts led the IAEA delegation during the talks held on Friday.

The last round of negotiations between the two sides was scheduled to be held on May 21, but it was postponed due to the IAEA Director General's surprise visit to Iran.

The two sides are expected to agree on a modality and a specified framework to work on the mutual issues.

Iran believes that any agreement for cooperation beyond its legal commitments should be reached in a specific and clear framework since the remaining issues and the IAEA questions go beyond Iran's obligations as specified in the NPT and the IAEA constitution.
