TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian researchers succeeded to develop a local anesthetic medicine for surgery of depth of eye which reduces pain. The researchers of Mashhad University of Medical Science in northeastern Iran could develop a local eye drop dubbed "lidocaine–cyclodextrin complexes" for the first time in the country. The local anesthetic eye drop is one of the most required demands for eye surgeries and its production would ease the surgeries in this regard. Local and foreign lidocaine anesthetic medicine which is used in the country now can only be used for anesthesia of eye surface and it possesses no application when deeper operation is required. The newly developed eye drop can be applied in deeper operations including strabismus and pterygium surgeries. The eye drop has been used for different patients, leading to satisfactory results.
