Iran's researchers develop new diagnosis system for power transformers

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian researchers developed power transformer's diagnosis system using radio waves.

The project manager Maryam Akhavan-Hejazi referred to the importance of power transformers application in power plants and their high economic values, adding transformers should be controlled permanently against any damage because of their high prices providing power for users.

She pointed out there is no need to stop the operation of transformers when using the radio system, noting different problems can be diagnosed when the system is used and required measures can be taken immediately.

She made a comparison between the newly-developed system and radar systems, adding there is a particular antenna in the method which guides the waves with high bandwidth into windings so that any form change would be diagnosed on the spot.

She stressed the method could be expanded to be used in other industry sections as well.
