ISNA - Tehran Service: Nuclear Energy
TEHRAN (ISNA)-The Supreme National Security Council of Iran will make the final decision on the way to supply Tehran’s reactor demanded fuel, said Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Chief.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi told ISNA on Sunday, “the final decision-maker over how to supply fuel for Tehran’s research reactor is Iran’s Supreme National Security Council after negotiations between Iran’s representative to the IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh and the agency.”
The decision regarding Tehran’s reactor fuel will be based on national interests and it will not be harmed, he said.
He also stated that the first option for Iran is to buy 20 percent enriched uranium but it will also consider exchange of low-enriched domestically produced uranium under certain conditions.
“If we cannot buy 20 percent enriched uranium to supply Tehran’s reactor fuel, we could accept exchange in limited amount provided that we receive 20 percent enriched uranium in advance,” he added.
